Geneva Bible Notes: Genesis 43

Genesis 43:1 (a) This was a great tentation to Jaakob to suffre so great famine in that land where God had promesd to blesse him.

Genesis 43:7 (/) Or, of our estate and condition.

Genesis 43:7 (/) Ebr. to the mouthe of these wordes: that is, that thing which he asked vs.

Genesis 43:9 (/) Ebr. I wil sinne to thee.

Genesis 43:11 (/) Or, swete smelles.

Genesis 43:12 (b) When we are in necessitie or danger God forbiddeth not to vse all honest meanes to better our estate and condition.

Genesis 43:13 (!) Jaakob suffreth Benjamin to departe with his children.

Genesis 43:14 (d) He speaketh these wordes not so muche of despair, as to make his sonnes more careful to bring againe their brother.

Genesis 43:14 (c) Our chief trust oght to be in God and not in worldelie meanes.

Genesis 43:16 (/) Or, to the ruler of his house.

Genesis 43:18 (/) Ebr. cast him selfe vpon vs.

Genesis 43:18 (/) Ebr. role him selfe vpon vs.

Genesis 43:23 (/) Or, you are wel.

Genesis 43:23 (!) Simeon is deliuered out of prison.

Genesis 43:23 (f) Notwithstanding the corruptions of Egypt, yet Joseph taught his familie to feare God.

Genesis 43:27 (/) Ebr. peace.

Genesis 43:28 (e) So the judgement of God pressed their conscience.

Genesis 43:29 (g) For thei two onely were borne of Rahel.

Genesis 43:30 (!) Joseph goeth aside and wepeth.

Genesis 43:30 (/) Ebr. bowels.

Genesis 43:31 (/) Ebr. bread.

Genesis 43:32 (i) The nature of the superstitious is to condemne all other in respect of them selves.

Genesis 43:32 (!) They feast together.

Genesis 43:32 (h) To signifie his dignitie.

Genesis 43:34 (k) Sometimes this worde signifieth to be dronken, but here it is ment that thei had ynough, and dronke of the best wine.
