Geneva Bible Notes: Genesis 44

Genesis 44:2 (a) We may not by this example vse any vnlawful practises, seing God hathe commanded vs to walke in simplicitie.

Genesis 44:3 (/) Ebr. the morning shone.

Genesis 44:5 (b) Because the people thoght he colde deuine, he attributeth to him selfe that knowledge: or els he faineth that he consulted with soothsaiers for it: which simulation is worthy to be reproued.

Genesis 44:10 (/) Ebr. innocent.

Genesis 44:13 (c) To signifie how greatly the thing displeased them, and how sorry thei were for it.

Genesis 44:15 (!) Joseph accuseth his brother of theft.

Genesis 44:16 (d) If we se no euident cause of our affliction, let vs loke to the secret counsel of God, who punisheth vs justly for our sinnes.

Genesis 44:18 (e) Equal in autoritie: or, next vnto the King.

Genesis 44:20 (/) Ebr. childe of his olde age.

Genesis 44:21 (/) Or, that I may se him.

Genesis 44:26 (/) Ebr. be with vs.

Genesis 44:27 (f) Rahel bare to Jaakob, Joseph and Benjamin.

Genesis 44:29 (g) Ye shal cause me to dye for sorowe.

Genesis 44:30 (/) Ebr. his soules is bonde to his soule.

Genesis 44:33 (!) Judah offreth himself to be seruant for Benjamin.

Genesis 44:34 (h) Meaning, he had rather remaine there, prisoner, then to returne and se his father in heauines.
