Geneva Bible Notes: Judges 15

Judges 15:1 ^a That is, I wil vse her as my wife.

Judges 15:3 ^b For through his father in laws occasion, he was moued againe to take vengeance of the Philistims.

Judges 15:4 ^! Samson tieth firebrandes to the foxe tailes.

Judges 15:5 ^c Or, that which reaped & gathered.

Judges 15:6 ^! The Philistims burnt his father in lawe & his wife.

Judges 15:6 ^d Or, the citizen of Timnath.

Judges 15:6 ^e So the wicked punish not vice for loue of justice, but for feare of danger, which els might come to them.

Judges 15:9 ^/ Or, horsemen & fotemen.

Judges 15:9 ^/ Or, camped.

Judges 15:10 ^f And so being our prisoner, to punish him.

Judges 15:11 ^g Suche was their grosse ignorance than they judged Gods great benefite to be a plague vnto them.

Judges 15:13 ^h Thus they had rather betray their brother, then vse the meanes that God had giuen for their deliuerance.

Judges 15:15 ^! With the jawebone of an asse he killeth a thousand men.

Judges 15:15 ⁱ That is, of an asse lately slaine.

Judges 15:17 ^/ Or, the lifting vp of the jawe.

Judges 15:18 ^k Wherby appeareth, that he did these things in faith, & so with a true zeal to glorifie God & deliuer his countrey.

Judges 15:19 ^! Out of a great tothe in the jawe God gaue him water.

Judges 15:19 ^/ Or, the fountaine of him that prayed.
